Did you know that breast cancer can be treated just as effectively with only 5 radiotherapy sessions instead of 25 – at much lower cost?

🧺Our study at Lucerne Cantonal Hospital found that this new approach cuts hospital costs by over 50%, reduces insurance charges by 42%, and lower patients' productivity loss by 62% - while keeping patient outcomes just as strong.

But isn’t standard everywhere!

When I first started reading the book Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing by Kaplan and Anderson, I struggled to grasp the important point of “efficient time” measurement, too many “why” and “how”. However, I realized that there was no a better available method that could better capture true costs and make comparisons.

So why don’t more centers adopt this approach?

Our paper suggests that nuances in healthcare systems, reimbursement models, and settings may play a role - perhaps more time is needed for wider adaptation.
